We have a dog that was abused we adopted from a shelter. She is 14 now and never ended up being good with people or other animals. We decided to get a puppy without the baggage so we can train him to be a Therapy Dog and help serve people who suffer from mental illness. I wanted a Bichon or a poodle so when I saw a mix, we were sold! I was skeptical about getting a puppy that wasn’t a rescue dog. I worried about the breeder’s reputation and feared a “puppy mill” with poorly treated animals. Henry and Emily live on a beautiful farm in an Amish community and they were reassuring re: their breeder certification reporting that there are strict guidelines, visits and fines if the facility is not suitable. They had what looked like an almost new barn. As a bonus, we were able to meet our puppy’s parents. We have only had our puppy for less than 3 days and he is a sweetheart. We can tell he was socialized and well cared for. We are thankful for our little blessing as we know he will be a blessing to others.
